Who am I?
Hello. I’m Kevin Partner, founder of IndieAuthorPlatform. I’m an indie author of fiction and non-fiction books as well as being a web developer and entrepreneur – I’m also absolutely nuts about the indie author business 😉
I created IndieAuthorPlatform because so many authors just want to write their book! Some authors (like me!) enjoy the tech side of setting up a website along with getting their mailing list sorted, other authors find it time-consuming and frustrating.
So, with IndieAuthorPlatform, my aim is to give you exactly as much, or as little support as you need. Whether you just want safe, fast, easy-to-use hosting for a site you build yourself; a top quality website built for you; or even day-to-day support from one author to another, I’ve got you covered.
I live in Hampshire on the south coast of England with my wife and son. I’ve been earning money from my writing for over 20 years, when I first became a regular contributor and columnist for the UK’s leading technology magazine, PC Pro.
From 1999 to 2008, I founded and ran a digital agency serving the likes of Sony UK, Virgin Media, Collins Education, the NAAFI and the RAF amongst others. During that time, I developed web design and development skills including in server management, PHP, CSS and WordPress. I built a business called PassYourTheory using these skills and helped thousands of people pass their driving tests.
In 2009, I was commissioned by Dennis Publishing to write a book on setting up and running an online business which has gone on to be updated (by me) in every year since, and has sold over 100,000 copies. I’ve also written two further books for them, one of which I later bought back and now publish myself.
In 2012, I self-published Your Craft Business: A Step by Step Guide, based on my experience in setting up and running my online craft retailer. This book has sold thousands of copies and has generated a five figure profit, as well as giving rise to an online course. It has the distinction of peaking at number 4 in the entire non-fiction chart, and number 45 overall when Amazon promoted it.
But writing fiction is my true passion, and I published my first book Stryke First (I’m a poor man’s Terry Pratchett) in 2016, with book two in May 2017 and the third in the autumn.
So, as you can see, while I’ve had moderate success with my non-fiction, I’m no Mark Dawson or Joanna Penn, and neither do I pretend to be.
But I do understand the process of building a platform – I’ve built dozens of websites, managed multiple successful mailing campaigns using Mailchimp, ConvertKit and MailerLite and published multiple books both on KDP and the other retailers.
I’m no genius, but I can help you launch a successful author career. Why not get in touch and have a chat?
